2.5 Word Register

 WORD REGISTER

A word register comprises of words related to a particular thing. e.g. garden - trees, flowers, bushes, birds, mud computer - keyboard, monitor, mouse, printer, program.

Sample Questions 

      1. Pick out the word that does not belong to the word register of the given

           word :

            illness

(1) ambulance       (2) doctor      (3) patient      (4) hotel 

  Explanation : 'Hotel is the only word not connected to illness. Hence option (4) is the answer.

      2. Pick out the word that belongs to the word register of the given word:

        family

(1) uncle      (2) neighbour     (3) friend     (4) penpal 

Explanation : Only ‘uncle' is related to family. Hence option (1) is the answer.

3. Find the two options that do not fit in the given list of words:

           lion, tiger, snake, fox, dog, cow, spider

              (1) snake    (2) dog    (3) spider    (4) cow

Explanation : Only snake and spider are not mammals. Hence options (1) and (3) are the answers.

 4. Choose the correct option which is related to the given words:

           plants, bushes, trees, flowers, creepers. grass 

        (1) floral    (2) fauna    (3) flora     (4) me.

explanation : 'Flora' means the vegetation of a place, i.e. Hence option (3) the answer
