4.7 Wh- Question

 

WH-QUESTIONS

A  question is a sentence that asks for information. A question always ends with a question mark.

Wh-questions are those that begin with 'Wh- words such as 'What', 'Who', 'Whom', whose', 'Which', 'Where', 'When', 'Why' and 'How'. ("How is also considered as a 'Wh-' word because it asks for information.)

Wh-questions require some definite information in reply.

eg. (1) What is the colour of your new dress/

(2) Who waited at the station?

(3) Whom did you meet today?

(4) Whose telephone number is this?

(5) Which movie shall we see today?

(6) Where is the little puppy?

(7) When will we reach the picnic spot?

(8) Why have you not done your homework?

(9) How deep is this lake?
